Who We Are

MetroRank (metrorank.io) is a free data reference tool that aggregates publicly available government statistics to help people compare U.S. metro areas. We are not a financial advisor, real estate broker, or government agency.

What We Collect

MetroRank does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use the site.

When you visit MetroRank, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymous usage data, including:

• Pages visited and time spent on each page
• General geographic region (country/state level)
• Browser type and device category
• Referring website (how you arrived at MetroRank)

This data is aggregated and anonymized. We cannot identify individual visitors from this data.

What We Do Not Do

• We do not sell your data to third parties
• We do not build personal profiles of individual visitors
• We do not use retargeting or behavioral advertising
• We do not collect email addresses, names, or contact information

Cookies

MetroRank uses two types of cookies:

Analytics cookies — Set by Google Analytics to track aggregate site usage. These are only activated after you consent via the cookie banner. You can decline analytics cookies and the site will function identically.

Preference cookies — A single cookie_consent value stored in localStorage to remember your cookie preference. This is not a tracking cookie.

Data Sources

All metro area statistics displayed on MetroRank are sourced from publicly available U.S. government datasets, including the U.S. Census Bureau ACS, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bureau of Economic Analysis, NOAA/NCEI, EPA Air Quality System, and FBI Crime Data Explorer. MetroRank does not store any private or personally identifiable information in its database.

Data Retention

Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default, per Google's standard settings. Your cookie preference (stored in localStorage) persists until you clear your browser data.

Your Rights

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at any time by declining cookies in the banner, or by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

To reset your cookie preference, clear your browser's localStorage for metrorank.io.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of MetroRank after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
